Summary

Setting up an SRV record makes it easier for players to connect to your Minecraft server using a custom domain name. Instead of typing out a long, complicated IP and port, they can simply enter the domain—keeping things smooth and user-friendly.
This guide will walk you through creating an SRV record in cPanel step by step, ensuring your server is easy to access.

For this you will need to purchase a Shared Hosting plan with us. Our shared hosting plans provide you better DNS management (very important for this tutorial) as well as giving you access to our website builder, ability to create custom emails and so much more!

Creating an A Record

Only using an A Record will mean that after your domain users will still need to input the port but is an important first step towards setting the SRV record. You can view our original article on creating an A record here.

Step 1: On cPanel navigate to Zone Editor

Step 2: Select Manage on the top right of the screen.
Step 3: Press Add Record
Step 4:
Under Name type your domain name example.com. Under Type select A Record for IPv4 address enter your servers IP address (not IP Alias)
Step 5: Press Save Record

Finding your IPv4 Address

Your servers IPv4 Address can be found on a windows computer by doing the following:

  • Press Win + R
  • Type CMD
  • In the terminal type ping us4.abrhosting.com (changing this for your game server's assigned domain)

You will be provided the following output that you can grab the IPv4 from.
